  • LP « The COLORS » (USA [Dirt Records #DR-002] 1982) Produced by Clem Burke. Not as fun as their previous EP "Rave it Up" ; not really bad but on a couple of tracks synth new-wave trend began to heave in sight.

  • The CRYERS [USA]
Biography Their first album was undeniably a good one (a couple of great Shoes-y tracks) but sometimes I regret more verve into their performing. Some tracks have a kind of indolence a bit ... irritating [pierre]. The Cryers' first LP features the sprightly "Shake It Up (Ain't It Time?)" that was included on Rhino's DIY compilation of American Power Pop Vol.2 [philippe t.].

  • The DECADENTS [California]
    Discography
  • 7" « Hideaway Girl » b/w « Runaway Train » (USA [Roccoco #DEC1] 1981) w/PS. The A-side is quite good (60s-styled) mid-tempo powerpop & the flip is quite good rock-n-roll punk.
  • LP « SUBLIMINAL HOKUM » (USA [Roccoco Records #ROC-0001] 1983)
  • The DICTATORS [New York, New York City]

  • LP « TURN IT UP » (USA [Stiff] )
  • DROOGS [USA]
Biography The Droogs can actually considered as the band who put out one of the earliest '60s garage revival records circa '73-74 but 1980's "Only Game In Town" is a great pop song that deserves to be listed in something which thought itself as a powerpop anthology.
    Discography
  • 7" « As Much As I Want » b/w « » (USA )
  • 7" « Only Game In Town » b/w « Garden Of My Mind » (USA [Plug N Socket #PNS 006] 1981)
  • EPICYLE [USA]
    Discography
  • LP « SPECIAL FIRST EDITION » (USA [Cyrkle Rds #CST 111] 1981) Sixties-influenced LP with some incursions into punky/new-wave-ish quirkitude. The band had two songwriters and it yielded two kind of songs (sixties pop and quirkiest pop). Not your average Knack-y powerpop album (not a bad thing at all, hey!) but recommended.
  • The EXPLOSIVES [Austin, Texas]
Biography In the late 1970's and early 1980's, The Explosives was a favorite at the famous Austin club named Raul's. This punk/pop trio would play and record a number of records on their own, and act as back up for Roky Erickson. From 1979 until 1982 The Explosives released three 7" records, and one full LP as well as appearing solo and with Roky Erickson on the Live at Raul's album.[F.Krc]
    Personnel
  • Freddie Krc : drums,vocals
  • Waller Collie : bass,vocals
  • Cam King : guitar,vocals
  • Discography
  • EP 7" « Come Clean »« Summertime Come » b/w « I Won't Go Back To Work »« I'm An Explosive » (USA [Black Hole #BH6171] August 1979)
  • [Tr] « »« »LIVE AT RAUL'S(USA ) Including two other songs with Explosives backing Roky Erickson.
  • EP 7" « Push The Button » : « If I Touch Her »« Ufo (Amol) » b/w « Fortress Europe »« Cola Brain » (USA [Black Hole #BH 1980-1] February 1980) Recorded at Loma Ranch Studio - Fredericksburg, Texas
  • 7" « A Girl Like You » b/w « Headhunter » (USA [Black Hole #BH 1981-1] February 1981) Underestimated by punk collectors, "A Girl Like You" captured the quintessence of pure, unabashed powerpop on par with classics of its kind like Rubinoos' "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". Another long lost powerpop masterpiece. The flip is a very good instrumental.
  • LP « RESTLESS NATIVES » (USA [Ready Go #RRLP 1001] 1981) Eight-songs mini-LP on a Californian label. The trio sounded in there sometimes like rootsier Rubinoos, with less harmonies and a more mature attitude. The production gave to the band a clear sound (done by Stu Cook of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame) with slight hints of r'n'r and country.
