The CRYERS [USA] |
Their first album was undeniably a good one (a couple of great Shoes-y tracks) but sometimes I regret more verve into their performing. Some tracks have a kind of indolence a bit ... irritating [pierre]. The Cryers' first LP features the sprightly "Shake It Up (Ain't It Time?)" that was included on Rhino's DIY compilation of American Power Pop Vol.2 [philippe t.]. |

DROOGS [USA] |
The Droogs can actually considered as the band who put out one of the earliest '60s garage revival records circa '73-74 but 1980's "Only Game In Town" is a great pop song that deserves to be listed in something which thought itself as a powerpop anthology. |

The EXPLOSIVES [Austin, Texas]
In the late 1970's and early 1980's, The Explosives was a favorite at the famous Austin club named Raul's. This punk/pop trio would play and record a number of records on their own, and act as back up for Roky Erickson. From 1979 until 1982 The Explosives released three 7" records, and one full LP as well as appearing solo and with Roky Erickson on the Live at Raul's album.[F.Krc]
